单词 wavelength
释义
wavelength

Physics
  • See wave.

Mathematics
  • See wave.

Astronomy
  • The distance between successive peaks or troughs of a wave. Wavelength is equal to the speed of the wave divided by its frequency, f. For electromagnetic radiation, which travels at c, the speed of light, λ‎ = c/f. Wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation range from hundreds of metres for radio waves to 10−16 m for gamma rays.

Chemical Engineering
  • The distance between each crest or trough of a wave. It is related to frequency, f, by the velocity of the wave, v, as:

    λ=vf

Internet
  • The distance between successive maxima or minima of an electromagnetic wave.

Electronics and Electrical Engineering
  • See wave.

Geology and Earth Sciences
  • 1. (λ‎) The distance on a wave between successive points that are in phase, e.g. for a water wave, the wavelength is the distance from one crest to the next. Wavelength is related to the velocity (v) and frequency (f) by: λ‎ = v/f. The inverse of wavelength is wavenumber.

    2. Of a fold system, the distance between one hinge or trough and the next. It is rarely possible, or necessary, to measure the wavelengths of folds precisely.
