A heat exchange device used to raise the temperature or vaporize a liquid. The heat supplied by hot gases from combustion processes or by high-temperature heat transfer liquids such as oils. Many boilers are used to raise steam as a process utility. Steam itself is often used as the heat transfer medium in heat exchanger-type boilers such as kettle reboilers.
