单词 | TWP (Two-Way Paging) |
释义 | TWP (Two-Way Paging) A paging system that supports duplex communications. The simplest and most common version is known as 1.5-way paging, which supports guaranteed message delivery, as the network does not attempt to download messages until such time as the pager is within range, turned on, and has enough memory to support the download. The general location of the pager is communicated upstream, so the messages can be downloaded to the antennas supporting that particular geographic area, rather than being broadcast across the entire paging network. Once downloaded successfully, the pager acknowledges to the network the receipt of the page. Full two-way paging enables the recipient of the page to select and transmit a return message, which most commonly is selected from a small set of predetermined messages, although some pagers support user-definable return messages. See also download, duplex, pager, paging system, and upstream. |
