In telecommunications, referring to network deployments in territories where there is an existing telecommunications infrastructure that is removed or abandoned in place. For example a passive optical network (PON) fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) configuration may require the removal or involve the abandonment of existing wireline infrastructure.
