pizza box 1. A directional, rate-adaptive, passive array antenna, so called because it is about the size and shape of a pizza box. Such an antenna possesses beamforming properties that permit it to adjust its logical focus to maximize the strength of the incoming signal.These adjustments in focus are accomplished passively, with no physical, i.e., mechanical, reorientation required. Pizza box antennas are used in wireless local loop (WLL) technologies such as WiMAX, and are placed at the customer premises. See also antenna, rate adaption, signal, WiMAX, and WLL. 2.
