单词 cation
释义
cation

Physics
  • A positively charged ion, i.e. an ion that is attracted to the cathode in electrolysis. Compare anion.

Chemistry
  • A positively charged ion, i.e. an ion that is attracted to the cathode in electrolysis. Compare anion.

Electronics and Electrical Engineering
  • An ion that carries a positive charge and, in electrolysis, moves towards the cathode, i.e. travels in the direction of conventional current. Compare anion.

Biology
  • A positively charged ion, such as the sodium ion (Na+). Compare anion.

Geology and Earth Sciences
  • A positive ion, i.e. an atom, or complex of atoms, that has lost one or more electrons and is left with an overall positive electric charge, e.g. Na+, Mg2+, NH4+. The name is derived from the fact that when an electric current is passed through a conducting solution the positive ions present in the solution move towards the cathode (the negative electrode). Compare anion.

Geography
  • An ion or group of ions having a positive charge such as the sodium ion in salt (Na+Cl). Cation exchange is the interchange between a positively charged cation in the soil water and a negatively charged ion on a clay surface. The most important ions held in this way are the four important plant nutrients sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Cation exchange capacity (CEC) is the overall net negative charge of clay minerals per unit mass of soil, usually expressed as milliequivalents (meq) per kg of oven-dried soil.
