Society founded in 1975 as an autonomous section of the International Statistical Institute. Its object is the advancement, through international contacts, of the sciences of probability (including the theory of stochastic processes) and mathematical statistics and of their applications. The Society has more than 1 000 members and publishes four issues of its journal Bernoulli per year.
