Modern physical thinking takes the view that time should be regarded as essentially uniform with space. It is one dimension in uniform space-time. Hence many writers have advocated looking at an ordinary, enduring object as a four-dimensional space-time worm. The segments of this worm are the successive stages or time-slices that together make it up, in the way that successive events make up a process, or successive acts make up a play. See also endurance/perdurance.
