The complete interconnection pattern of leads inside an integrated-circuit package. It is used to connect the integrated circuit to the outside world. The leadframe is formed from thin copper sheet (see wire bonding) or by plating the required pattern onto plastic tape (see tape automated bonding). The frame is relatively rigid and robust.
