The time that has elapsed since a meteorite fell to Earth. It can be estimated from the decay of certain fairly short-lived radioactive isotopes, such as argon-39, carbon-14, chlorine-36, and beryllium-10, which were formed by cosmic-ray bombardment of the meteorite while it was in space.
