A simple type of liquid–gas contactor in which a liquid is sprayed into a gas contained within a column. It is typically used to absorb gases into a liquid in which the liquid is sprayed as fine droplets from the top of the column and the gas to be absorbed enters at the bottom of the column and leaves at the top.
