An embedded system that controls the engine and often other subsystems of a motor vehicle. Sensors monitor performance aspects such as speed, fuel flow, and crankshaft position, and the unit computes optimal control parameters, such as spark-plug timing or fuel-air mix, to obtain the best engine performance.
