单词 oxidation
释义
oxidation

Chemistry
  • See oxidation–reduction.

Electronics and Electrical Engineering
  • A chemical reaction used in electronics in which a thin portion of the surface of a silicon chip is converted to silicon dioxide.

Geology and Earth Sciences
  • Specifically, a reaction in which oxygen combines with, or hydrogen is removed from, a substance. More generally, any reaction in which an atom loses electrons. For example, in the reaction between zinc and copper sulphate:

    Zn + Cu2+ + SO42− → Zn2+ + SO42− + Cu

the zinc has lost two electrons and been oxidized. Conversely the copper has undergone reduction.

Geography
  • The absorption by a mineral of one or more oxygen ions. Oxidation is a major type of chemical weathering, particularly in rocks containing iron; see Price and Bevel (2003) Chem. Geol. 202, 3. Oxidation occurs in soils when minerals take up some of the oxygen dissolved in the soil moisture; see Kayak et al. (2007) J. Env. Qual. 36.
