A proposed NASA ‘lifeboat’ spacecraft for the International Space Station, to return crew members to Earth in an emergency. It was intended to be attached permanently to the station and could also be used for short flights in the station's vicinity. A prototype of the CRV was tested at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center, but the project was cancelled in 2001 due to cuts in NASA's budget.
