A white dwarf of type DZ 13.9 l.y. away in Pisces, the nearest white dwarf to the Sun after the companions of Sirius and Procyon; also known as Wolf 28 and GJ35. It appears of mag. 12.4 and has the relatively large proper motion of 2″.99 per year. It is named after the Dutch-American astronomer Adriaan van Maanen (1884–1946), who discovered it in 1917.
