A statistical methodology in which data from previous tests are considered and analysed together. For example, a series of small experiments may all show only slight signs of the same effect (e.g. that one medicine is better than another), whereas the aggregation of the experiments provides overwhelming evidence. A difficulty with this approach is that experimental conditions and experimental protocols may vary, so that the aggregate outcome may not be a fair reflection of the true situation.
