A prefix to a unit, denoting a multiple of 10⁶ (i.e. 1 000 000) of that unit: one megavolt equals 10⁶ volts. In computing, however, it is sometimes used to denote a multiple of 2²⁰ (i.e. 1 048 576). See megabit; megabyte.
