An information storage medium suitable for music, video, or computer data. The Blu-ray disk is a plastic disk, 12 cm in diameter, with a 1.5-cm hole in the centre. Information is stored in a single track, starting at the centre, which contains a minimum of 25 Gbytes of data. Blu-ray uses a blue-violet laser (as opposed to the red laser used in DVD) to read and write data, and can store high-definition and 4K HD video. Multiple-layer disks can store from 50 up to 128 GB of data.
