An observatory at an altitude of 3244 m in the Magdalena mountains about 50 km west of Socorro, New Mexico, owned and operated by the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) in Socorro. Its facilities are a 2.4-m reflector capable of tracking rapidly moving objects, which began operation in 2008; and the Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer (MROI) consisting of ten 1.4-m telescopes in a Y-shape with baselines up to 340 m, observing at visible and near-infrared wavelengths between 0.6 and 2.4 μ‎m.
