Asteroid 101955, a member of the Apollo group, and the target of the OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission. It was discovered in 1999 by the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) project. Bennu orbits the Sun every 1.2 years at an average distance of 1.13 au. It is of B type with a diameter of about 500 m and an orbit that can bring it as close as 0.003 au to the Earth, placing it into the category of a potentially hazardous asteroid. It has a perihelion of 0.90 au, aphelion 1.36 au, and inclination 6°.0. Its rotation period is 4.3 hours. See also OSIRIS-REx
