A portable computer in a thin flat package with a touchscreen interface. Tablets are larger than smartphones but less bulky than laptops. They typically provide on-screen keyboards, but may also allow external physical keyboards to be connected, often via Bluetooth. They usually run a slimmed-down version of a full operating system.
