A coupling reaction in which an organoboron compound reacts with an organohalide compound when catalysed by a palladium complex. This reaction, which was first published by the Japanese chemist Akira Suzuki (1930– ) and his colleagues in 1979, results in the coupling of two organic groups, with a single carbon–carbon bond between the groups. There are many applications, including industrial applications, of the Suzuki reaction.
