  • Any of NASA's 18 facilities that make up an international system of planetary image libraries. Established in 1977, they keep photographic, digital, and cartographic data, and mission documentation. The facilities are open to scientists, educators, students, and the public.

    The ten US facilities are located at Arizona State University, Phoenix, Arizona; Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island; Cornell University, Ithaca, New York; the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California; the Lunar and Planetary Institute, Houston, Texas; the National Air and Space Museum, Washington, DC; the US Geological Survey, Flagstaff, Arizona; the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona; the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Hawaii; and Washington University at St Louis, Missouri. Other facilities are located at the Instituto di Astrofisica Spaziale, Rome, Italy; the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt, Berlin, Germany; the Institute of Space and Astronomical Sciences, Kanagawa, Japan; the Israeli Regional Planetary Image Facility at Beer-Sheva; University College London, England; the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, Canada; the University of Oulu, Finland; and the Université de Paris-Sud, Paris, France.
