A device used to remove the moisture from a high moisture-containing fluid that contains a solid to be dried. The solid is often heat-labile, such as milk, and is continuously atomized into small droplets within a large chamber into which is fed a continuous flow of warm drying air or gas. Evaporation of the suspended droplets is rapid and the dried product is quickly carried away with the current of air or gas and separated, usually in a cyclone. Rapid drying in this way is suitable for materials that may be heat-sensitive such as certain biological and food products.
