单词 solid-state physics
释义
solid-state physics

Physics
  • The study of the physical properties of solids, with special emphasis on the electrical properties of semiconducting materials in relation to their electronic structure. Solid-state devices are electronic components consisting entirely of solids (e.g. semiconductors, transistors, etc.) without heating elements, as in thermionic valves.

Recently the term condensed-matter physics has been introduced to include the study of crystalline solids, amorphous solids, and liquids.

Electronics and Electrical Engineering
  • The branch of physics that studies the structure and properties of solids and any associated phenomena. Properties and associated phenomena that are dependent on the structure of the solid include electrical conductivity, semiconduction, superconductivity, photoconductivity, the photoelectric effect, and field emission.
