The December 2012 issue of the Chicago Magazine shows that hunger is not simply a function of hardship; while some deprived areas ranking at the bottom of the city’s community area by almost every economic indicator are ‘hungry areas’, the wealthiest communities by median income are not the ones with the lowest percentage of food-insecure residents.
