One of a series of antenna that make up the NASA deep-space network (DSN), serving as the main telecommunications link with interplanetary spacecraft. Located in the Mojave Desert, California, and measuring 34 m in diameter, Goldstone is one of the three main antennae of the DSN (the others are located in Canberra, Australia, and Madrid, Spain). The antennae are located at regular intervals about the Earth, allowing the tracking of spacecraft 24 hours a day. Goldstone is managed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
