An instrument used by the European Space Agency (ESA) to monitor and measure ozone in the Earth's atmosphere. GOMOS was carried aboard ESA's Envisat, and programmed to take more than 600 profile measurements each day. This was the first time that a star occultation will be used to measure ozone. The data collected by GOMOS are used for global ozone mapping and for monitoring trends in ozone depletion.
