A catalytic reforming process used to convert straight-chain aliphatic hydrocarbons into aromatic hydrocarbons and hydrogen using a platinum catalyst. (p. 288) The name is derived from platinum-reforming. While platinum was the first catalyst to be developed for catalytic reforming, other catalysts and related processes have subsequently been developed over the past 60 years. Continuous catalytic regeneration or CCR platforming is a widely used continuous version of the process.
