In telecommunications, referring to a leased line network configuration in which traffic is transported to a point that is geographically beyond and then transported back (hauled back) to the destination site due to the lack of a direct path between the originating and destination sites. Such an indirect design is much like the indirect route one might be forced to take from New York City west to Seattle and then back east to get to Spokane,Washington. 2. In telecommunications, and particularly wireless networks, to transport traffic from a distributed node, such as a cellular base station or Wi-Fi access point (AP), to a centralized node, such as a mobile telephone switching office (MTSO) or Internet service provider (ISP), respectively.
