JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) A derogatory term for spanning, which is the use of a number of external physical hard drives organized into a single logical drive. JBOD is a simple storage technology that allows a computer to write to a large storage medium comprising multiple smaller drives. Unlike a redundant array of independent disks (RAID), JBOD does not provide any advantages in terms of redundancy or performance. See also RAID. |
