单词 | POCSAG (Post Office Code Standardization Advisory Group) |
释义 | POCSAG (Post Office Code Standardization Advisory Group) A standard set of code and sig- naling formats for radio paging systems developed in the 1970s by an international team of engineers. The name was derived from the fact that the British Post Office (BPO), which was the Post, Telegraph, and Telephone (PTT) agency for the United Kingdom at the time, chaired the effort. The POCSAG standard, which is in the public domain, provides for transmission speed of up to 2,400 bps, using channels of 25 kHz in the 150–170 MHz band. The CCIR (now ITU-R) standardized that code internationally in 1981, and most nations quickly adopted it. POCSAG can support as many as 2 million individual pager addresses. POCSAG supports simplex transmission, downstream only, and tone-only, numeric, and alphanumeric pagers. See also CCIR, downstream, ITU-R, pager, paging system, PTT, public domain, radio, and simplex. |
