Any of three buildings at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, used for maintenance of the space shuttle, which is towed there immediately after landing. NASA employees remove the remaining fuel and then inspect, test, and refurbish the shuttle for its next mission. The OPF-1 and OPF-2 buildings have high bay areas of 2 700 sq m, and are connected by a low bay with an area of 2 130 sq m. OPF-3, formerly called the Orbiter Maintenance and Refurbishment Facility (OMRF), has an area of 4 645 sq m.
