An observatory at an altitude of 1957 metres on Pico del Buitre (Vulture Peak) in the Sierra de Javalambre mountains near Teruel, eastern Spain, opened in 2015. It is owned and operated by the Centro de Estudios de Física del Cosmos de Aragón (CEFCA) in Teruel. The observatory’s main instruments are the 2.5-m Javalambre Survey Telescope and the 0.8-m Javalambre Auxiliary Survey Telescope, both of which carry out wide-field sky surveys.
