An extravehicular activity on the Moon to explore and test its surface. Moon walks were carried out by 12 US astronauts on 6 Apollo spacecraft missions from 1968 to 1972. The astronauts were Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on Apollo 11, Pete Conrad and Alan Bean on Apollo 12, Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell on Apollo 14, David Scott and James Irwin on Apollo 15, John Young and Charles Duke on Apollo 16, and Eugene Cernan and Jack Schmitt on Apollo 17.
