  • The study of the effects of animals on geomorphology, including their contribution to the erosion, transport, and deposition of rock and loose material. These effects arise from animal activities such as trampling, burrowing, mound-building, wallowing, nesting, the removal of plants, and caching food, as well as the direct consumption of soil and rock and dam-building by beavers (Castor species).

  • The study of animals as geomorphic agents—as in the creation and collapse of gopher tunnels (Knight (2009) ESPL 34, 4, 590). The classic text is by D. R. Butler (1995).
