A type of wool obtained from goats, with the breeds that yield wool of this quality being known as Cashmere goats. The wool originated in Pakistan and northern India (the name is the old spelling of Kashmir), but China is now the largest producer. Cashmere is softer than wool and provides better thermal insulation.
