An alkali feldspar mineral containing the alkali metal potassium, with the composition KAlSi3O8. It occurs in igneous rocks such as granite, and in other rocks rich in light-coloured (felsic, from feldspar and silica) minerals such as quartz, sometimes forming large crystals.
