A model describing critical dynamics in which the dynamics is dissipative and the order parameter is conserved. The Cahn–Hilliard model was introduced by John Cahn (1928–2016) and John Hilliard (1926–86) in 1958. The Cahn–Hilliard model has many applications, including industrial applications, to problems such as phase separation and polymers. Associated with the Cahn–Hilliard model is an equation called the Cahn–Hilliard equation. See also Glauber model.
