单词 connectivity
释义
connectivity

Computer
  • 1. (of a computer network) A rather loosely defined property referring either to the extent to which sites wishing to connect to the network are actually equipped with a network connection, or to the extent to which sites with an existing connection are still able to contact other network sites in the event of a component failure.

    2. (of a graph G) The minimum number of vertices (and associated edges) of G whose removal from G results either in a graph that is no longer connected or in a trivial graph with a single vertex: at least k vertices must be removed from a graph with k-connectivity. The higher the connectivity the more edges there are joining vertices.

The quantity described above is sometimes called the vertex connectivity to distinguish it from the edge connectivity, which by analogy is the minimum number of edges whose removal from G results in a graph that is disconnected or trivial.

Geography
  • The degree to which the nodes of a network are directly connected with each other. A graph is connected if every node can be reached from some other node. The higher the ratio of the edges to the nodes in a network, the greater the connectivity. See Urban and Keitt (2001) Ecology 82 on graph theory as applied to connectivity in heterogeneous landscapes. Connectivity in a network is said to increase as economic development proceeds; see G. Vigar (2002). Taylor (2002) Urb. Studs 39 measures a city’s connectivity by summing the products of every firm’s service value in the city with their service values in all other cities. US cities are generally less globally connected than their European Union and Pacific Asian counterparts—New York is the only US city with more non-US cities than US cities in its top ten of global connections (C. Taylor 2005, Brookings Institution).

Landscape connectivity is the degree to which the landscape facilitates movement across its existing resources. It can be considered as an emergent property of the landscape that results from the interaction between landscape structure and landscape function; see García-Fecedet et al. (2011) Forest Ecol. & Manage. 261, 154.
