A NASA satellite launched in 2018 April to search for extrasolar planets. It surveys the entire sky with four 0.1-m cameras each with a 24° field of view, looking for the slight dimming of stars caused by the transit of planets similar in size to those in our Solar System. TESS is expected to monitor over half a million stars during a mission lifetime of two years.
