The world’s fastest supercomputer until 2016. It is situated at the National Super Computer Centre in China and was manufactured by the National University of Defence Technology. The first supercomputer to have more than 1 million cores (3 120 000 Intel Xeon E-5 processors), it can reach a theoretical peak speed of 54 902 teraflops, has 1024 TB of memory, and consumes nearly 18 MW of power. Its closest rival at the time of writing is the Titan Cray XK7, with 560 640 cores.
