specializing in graphical models. Having been both a student and a faculty member at Copenhagen U, Lauritzen joined the faculty at Aalborg U in 1981, moving to Oxford U in 2004. Elected an Honorary Member of the RSS in 1992, he was awarded its Guy Medal in Silver in 1996. He was appointed a Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog in 1999 and was elected FRS in 2011. He was the 2012 Wald Lecturer of the IMS.
