The theorem proved by the Marquis de Condorcet, that if n people, each with a probability of slightly over a half of being right, and independent of each other, vote on a yes/no question, the chance of the majority verdict being right increases towards 1 as n increases. In most voting situations the conditions of the theorem are unfortunately not likely to be met.
