The overall name for the scientific instruments first deployed on the Moon by Apollo 12 astronauts Pete Conrad and Alan Bean in November 1969. The package, designed to reveal the Moon's internal structure, included an ion detector, seismometer, magnetometer, laser ranging reflector, and solar wind spectrometer. Later ALSEP packages were deployed by Apollo 14, Apollo 15, Apollo 16, and Apollo 17.
