单词 supersaturation
释义
supersaturation

Physics
  • 1. The state of the atmosphere in which the relative humidity is over 100%. This occurs in pure air where no condensation nuclei are available. Supersaturation is usually prevented in the atmosphere by the abundance of condensation nuclei (e.g. dust, sea salt, and smoke particles).

    2. The state of any vapour whose pressure exceeds that at which condensation usually occurs (at the prevailing temperature).

    2. The state of any vapour whose pressure exceeds that at which condensation usually occurs (at the prevailing temperature).

Chemical Engineering
  • An unstable solution that contains more of a solute in solution than it can hold, at a particular temperature, in the presence of crystals of that solute. It is prepared by cooling an unsaturated solution and by isothermal evaporation of a solvent. Used in the process of crystallization, supersaturation is more common with organic solvents than aqueous solvents.

Geology and Earth Sciences
  • The condition of air in which the humidity is above the level required for saturation at a given temperature (i.e. the relative humidity is greater than 100%). Supersaturation results when the temperature of air containing no cloud condensation nuclei falls below its dew point. See also saturated air.
