单词 kinetic energy
释义
kinetic energy

Physics
  • See energy.

Mathematics
  • The energy of a body attributable to its motion. The kinetic energy is often denoted T. For a particle of mass m with speed v, T=12mv2. For a rigid body rotating about a fixed axis with angular speed ω‎, and with moment of inertia I about the fixed axis, T=12Iω2. For a rigid body in general motion, the kinetic energy is given by

    T=12m|vG|2+12ωTIGω

    where m is the mass of the body, vG is the velocity of the centre of mass G, ω‎ is the angular velocity, and IG is the inertia matrix at G.

    Kinetic energy has the dimensions ML2 T−2, and the SI unit of measurement is the joule.

Astronomy
  • The energy possessed by a body by virtue of its motion in space. It is equivalent to the work that would be done if the moving body were brought to rest. When the speed of a body is much less than the speed of light, kinetic energy is equal to ½ mv2, where m is the mass of the body and v is its velocity. A rotating body has kinetic energy ½ I ω‎2, where I is its moment of inertia and ω‎ is its angular velocity.

Chemistry
  • See energy.

Chemical Engineering
  • The energy of a body by virtue of its motion:

    KE=12mv2

    where m is the mass of the body and v is its velocity. The SI units are kg m2 s−2 or joules.

Geography
  • The energy of motion; in geomorphology, the energy used by wind, water, waves, and ice. Kinetic energy for channelled flow is defined as:

    MV22
    where M is the mass of water, and V is the mean velocity.
