An Old World vulture (family Accipitridae), up to 1.2 m long with a wingspan of 2.5 m, that lives by scavenging animal carcasses, often moving in flocks over open ground in search of food. It breeds on mountain crags across southern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
