A presumptive test used to indicate blood. Phenolphthalein and hydrogen peroxide are used; reaction with haemoglobin in the blood gives a pink colour. The test was devised by Erich Meyer (1874–1927) in 1903, following work by Joseph Hoenig Kastle (1864–1916) in 1901.
