A rigid container used for storing and transporting liquids and bulk materials. It is generally cubic in shape and provides good storage geometry. It can be stacked and can vary in capacity ranging from 500 to 3,000 litres. It is called intermediate as its capacity is considered to be between that of a drum and a tank. IBCs are made of various materials and their use depends on their application. Plastic IBCs are commonly used for liquids. Steel and stainless steel IBCs are used for granular materials.
